Procedures

INTRAVITREAL INJECTIONS

Intravitreal injections involve administering medications into the eye to treat eye diseases and protect vision. Through an injection, the appropriate medication is introduced into the vitreous cavity, a space located at the back of the eye, behind the lens.

CAPSULOTOMY

YAG laser capsulotomy treatment is performed on an outpatient basis in the office under topical anesthesia (eye drops). Using a YAG laser attached to a slit lamp or microscope, we make a small opening in the opacified posterior capsule to clear the opacified membrane and clear the visual axis. The remaining portion of the posterior capsule is sufficient to hold the intraocular lens in place.

YAG LASER IRIDOTOMY

A prophylactic treatment performed on eyes with a narrow angle (occludable angle) for preventive purposes: to avoid an episode of acute glaucoma, that is, a sudden rise in intraocular pressure due to pupillary block.

SCLERAL LENS FITTING

Scleral lenses are large-diameter, semi-rigid contact lenses ranging from 14 mm to over 20 mm in diameter. They are called "scleral" lenses because they completely cover the cornea and extend into the sclera. Fitting large-diameter scleral lenses offers certain advantages over corneal lenses, such as comfort, as they are noticeably more comfortable than corneal lenses.
